Behind The Scenes

Two days post competition turned out to be a perfect and my last day of “cheating.”  Lol!

A personal day off from work gave me time to enjoy a spa day. I took my son to school and immediately drove to the spa for a day of pampering with a girlfriend.

The Hot Rock Massage was exactly what my body needed and then some.  Just heavenly!  Massage…jacuzzi…sauna…steam room…pool…DRINKS!  Lol!  Oh yeah!

The activities that take place behind the scenes are just as, if not more interesting, than what occurs on stage.  Lots of muscle pumping, tanning, and prepping.  I respect fellow competitors privacy, so I won’t include any of their shots.  The vibe in the prep room is all good and I felt welcomed.

I received many well wishes lots of smiling faces.  I even received advice from the more experienced competitors, which I thought was cool.

Speaking of behind the scenes, I must give props to my seamstress, Decked In Diamonds, who did a phenomenal job on my suit!  Heeey!   We never met in person and all the measurements and fittings were done through the internet or snail mail.  And… she nailed it!

Well tomorrow, it’s back to the grind!

Happy almost Tuesday!

Approaching The Finish-line

Four days remain and I am going strong!!

My meals for today?  Same as yesterday.

Lol! It’s a mental thing right now.

I LOVE chicken! The kale and collard blend really is a treat. 😜

Yesterday after work, I practiced posing, did a little total body (except for legs), and 30 minutes of constant cardio.  Today is pretty much a repeat of yesterday.  By the way, I dropped one (1) pound.

Have an awesome day!

To Do, Or Not To Do

I’m so excited!!  After grappling over vibrant fabric samples with cool textures, trying to figure out which color will look best against my tanned brown skin on stage, I finally decided.

I did it!!  There is NO turning back.

I ordered my suit for May’s competition!

Climbing out of bed daily with knotted up muscles and over indulging in poultry seven days a week at times has made training feel surreal, but putting a deposit on my suit has snapped me right out of my dream.  It’s the real deal.

With seven weeks out, the intensity is rising.

On Saturday I attended a local ANBF Bodybuilding competition, which was helpful.  I know how my body should look, feel, and flow on the stage.  The images are permanently stamped in my mind.

Taking on this challenge was the right move for me. You know, life is just too darn short to sit around slighting yourself.  I can’t do this… because.. blah…blah…blah…

I chose to do.  What about you?

Sweet dreams!

Thursday’s WOD

SWOD
Skill: Light snatch technique work – 10 minutes

WOD  15 minutes @ moderate effort

300m Row

60 sec plank hold

100 Single Unders

This afternoon I got high in CrossFit!  Well, at least that’s what I felt like during the WOD.  The rush of doing a little cardio sent my adrenaline into high gear!

Working on my snatch technique was much-needed. Snatches aren’t something I do in my figure training, so I was glad to get some practice reps in. I appreciate the way our trainer broke the technique down into move by move-it helped.

As soon as I positioned my feet and grabbed the handles to row, my heart raced like I was competing in the Olympics or something.  The thing is, I wasn’t looking forward to competing with anyone, I was just looking forward to the euphoric state, the endorphin rush, and the wonderful feeling I get from an intense cardio workout.   It’s my addiction.

The WOD wasn’t overly challenging, but enough for me to breakout into a nasty sweat.  Twenty seconds into my last plank and in the most sinister way, the coach placed a 25 pound weight on my back and another member’s back.

“Don’t move!  Hold it! Only 40 seconds to go.”

Putting myself in a meditative state of mind, I deeply inhaled…  slowly exhaled, concentrated on my body and held on!  By the way, I LOVED every second of it and I’m glad he did it.   Awesome!

Sweet dreams! 🙂
