Who Is Lexa?

Posing before the 2012 Philadelphia Broad Street Run

Eternal optimist, always sporting a smile; must have’s… intense workouts; preferably the gym, CrossFit or running, reading, writing, and enjoying great times with family and close friends.

Wife of 26 years and mother of two children.  As a former boss would always say, “I am CEO of  Tanya Inc.”  No, I don’t own a company per se; however, I am in charge of myself and my destiny.  Loyal, encouraging, unconventional, risk taker, atypical, who sails against the winds…  Thrilled at being me and taking on life’s adventures.

Here I am being kissed by a dolphin in Mexico (2010) on a family vacation. This was the BEST experience ever! Yes, I was TERRIFIED!

I run a household; raise my kids, keep up a career and strive to keep my marriage intact; all of which requires work.  Add my 80-year-old mother to the mix (she lives with us), an enthusiastic three-year-old Shitzu–Alex–and it makes life quite interesting.  I blog about my daily experiences, fitness, and challenges for several reasons:

  1. I am an extrovert. I have to talk about my feelings and get things off of my chest… blogging is a constructive way to do this.  Writing also helps me to reflect, sort through, and seek meaning in some of the madness in the world.
  2. To share my experiences with others.  It helps to know that others face my challenges and likewise.  I share what I learn with others and hope that others reciprocate.
  3. I’m a fitness fanatic and believe that my body is my temple.  Fitness and good nutrition are essential to my life.  I talk about it and blog about it because I hope to inspire other to live healthier lifestyles.

Lexa is dedicated to my father, Axel who died my senior year of high school.  I think of him often and I know that his spirit is with me.  He is pleased with my progress.  I know.

  1. Thanks for popping by my blog Tanya! I love what you say about being an extrovert and using the blog as a constructive way to nurture that gift. I say gift because I believe we were all made exactly the way we were supposed to be made. To handle all you do and juggle family and all of the above, you need your personality! Passive and 3 year old don’t go together, LOL. I have a 7 yr old son and he’s 4 kids rolled into the neat package of one. I was attracted to your blog because of your about page. We have a very similar life in terms of juggling many things at once and still trying to keep our lives authentic. Thanks again for stopping by my blog and I will be back to hang out on yours once all of my wifey and mummy duties are completed after today, Christmas Day 😉

  2. You’re truly inspiring. I adore the part about your father, may his soul rest in peace. Keep doing you and juggling it all and sharing your journey with us all. I’ll be tuning in.

    • Aundre, Congrats on starting your “long awaited journey!” I’m excited for you. Please update me on your progress. Meanwhile, if there is anything that I can do to help you, contact me. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Lexa’s Journal.
